Hannah Ortiz

Independent Facilitator/Co-Founder

Hannah Ortiz is one of the founders of Over the Umbrella has over 10 years of experience serving adults with developmental disabilities. She is an expert in supported living services that involves working with a multi-disciplinary team that provides support for individuals requiring 24/7 support. She is an expert in navigating the disability services system, in particular the California Regional Center system and generic resources.

Hannah has a bachelor’s degree and rehabilitation psychology from the University of Wisconsin Madison. She is certified in Person-Centered Planning and has completed all relevant training for Independent Facilitation in California.

Daniel Ortiz

Independent Facilitator/Co-Founder

Daniel has 10 years of unwavering commitment to adults with developmental disabilities. He has expertise in employment services, working with the Department of Rehabilitation, and navigating California’s regional center systems. Daniel is a member of the Vendor Advisory Committee (VAC) and a member of the Strategic Planning Committee at NLARC.

Daniel is a Los Angeles native and has trained and holds certificates in Independent Facilitation and Person-Centered Planning. He is also proficient in Spanish.

Cassandra Smith

Director of Operations/Co-Founder

As Director of Operations and Co-founder, Cassandra brings over 8 years of dedicated experience in the field of special needs, offering a wealth of knowledge and expertise that ensures the smooth operation of our facilities and administrative functions.

Driven by her extensive background and commitment to excellence, Cassandra plays a pivotal role in supporting our mission and enhancing the experience of both our clients and staff. She excels in managing complex tasks and possesses strong organizational skills, making her an indispensable leader within our team. Cassandra’s profound connections within the community and her deep professional understanding significantly contribute to the success of our programs and services, embodying her understanding dedication to effectively serving individuals with special needs.

Originally from Los Angeles, Cassandra earned her B.A. in Communications and Business Management from California State University, Northridge. Her educational background has provided her with a strong foundation in effective communication and strategic management. Cassandra’s expertise and local insights enable her to address the unique needs of our community with a personalized approach.
